So if you’ve bought a new Novation product lately, chances are that in the box you found a card with a registration code for the Automap software (which is awesome btw). On that card, if you product was packaged before the release of Automap 4, there’s likely a sticker saying that you qualify for the Automap Pro upgrade, but no matter how much you search the netz and the Novation website you won’t find a download link anywhere. Also, there is no upgrade path within the software either.
So, what’s going on here?
Well, after the release of Automap 4, the Pro features where simply merged into the standard version, so there is no need to upgrade anymore. Simply grab the latest version from the Novation website, install and your good to go.
Automap 4 is replacing Automap 3 Standard and Automap 3 PRO and is a free upgrade to all Novation Automap users. All of the main functions in Automap 3 PRO remain in Automap 4, the main change is a totally revised set-up process and workflow.

thank you, i kept installing 3.7 and 4.5 trying to find where the pro prompt was and then found this… though i once you choose single (user folder) or all (main lib folder) you cannot change that even if you uninstall and reinstall it…. the uninstaller does not really work… it leaves prefs all over… i need to check my sys logs to find out where it installed everything so change or mod it for a custom automap folder so i don’t have automap plug-ins showing up in live or maschine. you can actually put plug-ins inside the cubase app (package contents) and automap parses those and it keeps them out of the main vst folder… i wish live 8 had a plug-in manager…

That sounds messy! I’ve never had to uninstall / reinstall so I haven’t run into any of that…

I am running osx 10.5.8 and automap 4 is not compatible. Ive scoured the net but cannot find a version of 3.7.4 for download. And novation tells me they don’t have it. Do you know where i could get a copy of the old one so i can use my midi controler?

If that was the last version before 4 then Novation must have it somewhere. Saying that they don’t have it is just silly and cheap. Did you try reaching out to them via Twitter or similar? In my experience they are usually very responsive. I’m sure if you just get through to the right person they’ll send you a copy. I can’t help you more than that unfortunately. Good luck!
