New Song (Orbit)

I haven’t posted any new tracks in a while due to traveling and other circumstances, but tonight I had some spare time so I sat down with a borrowed laptop and this little thing came out :).

I did not have any other means of input besides the laptop keyboard so forgive some of the rough edges please. Also, all I had for monitoring was my very cheap ear buds. Thus, levels and EQ is probably all over the place. There has been no mastering (yet). If any one feels up to it let me know and I’ll send you the original file.

I have to return this laptop tomorrow so there is no time left to work on this track, but it was fun working with only a (licensed of course) copy of Ableton Live and a laptop. Hope you like it!

BTW, the samples are from a public repo of NASA transmissions. My interpretation of the terms is that this use should be OK but if that’s not the case let me know and I’ll remove them.

New EP (Cumulus) Released!

The first Cumulus EP is complete and uploaded to Bandcamp!

The tracks on this album represent different fantastic visions of abandoned environments that could or perhaps do exist somewhere only the clouds travel. The tracks are meant to be heard in order as a continuous journey.

All tracks were recorded using my modular synth (The Cumulus Machine) with Ableton Live as a recording deck. With the exception of a few overdubs the tracks were recorded ‘live’ as continuous takes.

Download it now!
It’s free, or you can pay any amount you want
if you feel generous and like what you hear :).

Special thanks to Adam Watson for mastering and feedback!

New Song (ML2 Un-less)

This is the second track in my new Clicks and Cuts / chopped up crackle and pop direction. It is a bit more ambient than the previous one, but my intention is to keep going up and down the spectrum of very slow and atmospheric to more rhythmic almost drum and bass inspired tracks. This one will probably lead into the ML1 track at some point…

The track was made entirely in the box in Live, using no analog / OB gear at all.

Please leave a comment with any feedback. Hear anything you’d change? Something you like / do not like? Please let me know!

New Song (ML1 Chopped Up Cuts)

First exploration in a more more chopped up, broken rhythmic style. No loops used, all percussion was handcrafted in Live. (Handcrafted as in even the samples are chopped up and modified.) You will need headphones or something that is capable of reproducing deep bass to hear all the parts of the track.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think! :) ANY feedback is more than welcome!

New Video (4rbitrary)

Inspired by Chris Randall’s videos I decided to explore the possibilities of the CV track on the Elektron Analog Four. The weird spacey sounds you hear are coming from the modular synth, curtesy of a lot of cross modulation between 3 Bubblesound VCOs, with trigs from the Analog Four. Most of the percussive elements are from the Maschine, but some clicks and cracks are from the A4 as well.

Ableton Live was used for recording only, effects and sequencing is all from either Maschine or the Analog Four.

The quality of the video is not the best and the track is so-so, but it’s all good practice both in terms of running a track live, and also in front of the camera.
