New Track: If you take my hand

Lately I’ve listened a lot to 80s synth pop, so when Native Instruments released the Neon Drive expansion for Maschine I immediately jumped on it. The track below was sequenced entirely in Maschine using only sounds from Neon Drive.

However, once I was done with the basic structure I got frustrated by the limited support for automation and mixing in the Maschine DAW, so I recreated the entire track in Cubase instead using the midi patterns from the Maschine project and the same sounds and presets. Super interesting and educational process btw…

This was supposed to be the February track, but I was delayed by the whole detour through Cubase… :) I’m thinking about adding a vocal track as well, but I also felt ‘done’ with it for now, so here goes.

Any comments and feedback is as always greatly appreciated.

Cumulus 2, The Start…

Now that I’ve gotten most of my gear in place I’ve slowly started to work on material for the next Cumulus compilation. The track below is a sketch, not yet complete but I thought I’d share the working versions along the way. Have a listen if  your interested.

The track was made in one take entirely on my modular system. Live 9.1 was used as a recording device only.

New Song (Dark Echoes – NOR Remix)

I while back I shot a short video with the Dark Energy and Dark Time combo. It was very simple but I was fooling around with my portable setup and I thought it sounded OK so I posted it.

My good fiend Niklas of NOR heard it and asked if he could have the original wave and perhaps play around with it a little.

The result is a wonderful track that really should be mostly attributed to Niklas. It really shows what a great, creative mind can do with the simplest little starting point.

Thank you Niklas for pulling this together and letting me post it!

New Video (Dark Echoes)

A little video I pulled together while jet lagged in Stockholm. It’s just the Doepfer Dark Time sequencing the Dark Energy with some percussive clickety-clacks from an Elektron MaschineDrum.

The delay and Reverb are from the built-in FX section of the Allen & Heath ZED-10FX mixer.

New Song (Orbit)

I haven’t posted any new tracks in a while due to traveling and other circumstances, but tonight I had some spare time so I sat down with a borrowed laptop and this little thing came out :).

I did not have any other means of input besides the laptop keyboard so forgive some of the rough edges please. Also, all I had for monitoring was my very cheap ear buds. Thus, levels and EQ is probably all over the place. There has been no mastering (yet). If any one feels up to it let me know and I’ll send you the original file.

I have to return this laptop tomorrow so there is no time left to work on this track, but it was fun working with only a (licensed of course) copy of Ableton Live and a laptop. Hope you like it!

BTW, the samples are from a public repo of NASA transmissions. My interpretation of the terms is that this use should be OK but if that’s not the case let me know and I’ll remove them.
